How to Effortlessly Descale Your Kettle
Limescale in your kettle may not initially seem to pose a huge problem. After all, the interior of your kettle isn’t out on display. Limescale in your tea or coffee, however, isn’t OK. At this point, you may want to start looking into ways to descale your kettle.
Follow these easy steps to transport your kettle back to almost brand new.

Step One
Buy a large bottle of distilled white vinegar online. This must be single-ingredient vinegar with no added fragrance. Unfortunately, it’s challenging to obtain pure white vinegar in the shops, probably because the product markup is so poor. You can still readily find the product online, however.
I bought a 5-litre bottle sold on Amazon.
Step Two
Before starting the process to descale your kettle, it’s important to protect your eyes. Whilst pouring, if neat white vinegar makes contact with the eyes, irritation and redness will ensure, as well as potential corneal injury. We really want to avoid this for obvious reasons.
Goggles of any sort are preferable, although glasses or sunglasses will also offer adequate protection.
Step Three
With the kettle emptied, fill the kettle with equal parts of water and white vinegar. This isn’t an exact science, and you don’t need to fill your kettle up to the top. Let this mixture soak for 30 to 60 minutes.

Step Four
Boil the kettle. When the boil finishes, let the mixture sit in the kettle for another 20 minutes to descale your kettle completely.
Step Five
Tip the mixture out of the kettle and rinse thoroughly. Boil the kettle again with plain water at least once to eliminate any lingering taste of vinegar.
