How to Style a Bedroom Dresser
Are you left wondering how to style a bedroom dresser? Do you feel uninspired or lacking in creativity? In this post, I share how I style mine to make it the focal point of the bedroom. Whilst I’m not strictly writing a general ‘how-to’ piece, I hope that you’ll be able to come away with plenty of fresh ideas.

The Dresser
Before getting onto how to style a bedroom dresser, I wanted to talk about the history of this dresser briefly. This piece of furniture has followed me for years. Not strictly speaking a dressing table as the bottom part comprises of drawers, it’s a unique hybrid. Anyway, I’ve always called it a dresser!

The dresser was most likely made in the late 1800s, shortly before the turn of the 20th century. It’s solid satinwood with a swivel mirror. In my opinion, having a centrally positioned mirror on a dresser works best.
If you’re looking to buy an antique dresser, it’s always preferable to buy in person. I tend to go to warehouse-style antique shops, where you can also barter on price.
The Styling
In the centre, I display my current perfumes and Sezane manuella jewellery box. This is a small beauty with bevelled glass and a brass structure. At the moment, I have an ongoing love affair with Gucci perfumes. Gucci Bloom Eau de Parfum is a rich white floral scent with jasmine and ragoon creeper, whilst Gucci Bloom Acqua Di Fiori Eau de Toilette comes with a fresh green floral print and is a youthful blend of galbanum leaves and cassis buds. It’s hard not to love the vintage powder pink statement bottles.

Another favourite is Gabrielle Chanel Eau de Parfum, a delicate yet radiant mix of four white flowers. I’m really into the bottle design, ultra-thin glass in a perfect square with a lamé coloured stopper.

Back to Gucci again, and a more recent purchase is Mémoire d’une Odeour Eau de Parfum. The vintage design of the bottle is said to replicate columns from an ancient world. In my mind, it also has a retro European look about it. The perfume is unassigned with gender, the defining note of Roman chamomile. The scent is musky without being overpowering.

I always keep a small collection of stones and crystals on my dresser. Currently, I have rose quartz, black tourmaline, blue quartz, pyrite crystal and finally, clear quartz. These are pieces that I’ve acquired over the years from different places while travelling.
On the lower shelf is my brass tea light holder, which I bought in the medina in Marrakech. From the same city is my azure bangle, bought from a shop just along from Jardin Majorelle. These are the famous botanical gardens created by Jacques Majorelle, who started working on the site in 1923. I like to dot various things I’ve bought from different countries in every room of the house, including the bathrooms.

Beside the bangle sits a collection of sterling silver rings, bought largely from the Portobello Road market. Next up is a basic sterling silver chain from Asos and some tortoiseshell hoop earrings from Accessorize. I keep my main jewellery box elsewhere but use my dresser for popping down whatever I’ve been wearing during the day.

Finally, I keep a miniature asparagus fern on my dresser. The pot used to house a succulent, which sadly died on me. I like to stick to dainty plants for a bedroom dresser, so this variety of ferns works out perfectly.

I hope that this post has filled your mind with styling inspiration, if so, let me know in the comments. How are you currently styling your bedroom dresser? If you’ve enjoyed reading How to Style a Bedroom Dresser, you may also want to check out 5 Things I No Longer Buy.
I love your dresser, I love that you have crystals, tea light holders and a fern. I wish I had antique dresser too, to place my perfumes on. So dreamy. I hope you have a great week ahead : ) xo
